  Week 11: New Mexico 2A District 5 High School Hoops Recap February 5th - February 10th Seven games on the schedule for Week 11, including the last non-district game of the regular season schedule. This week's "Tip of the Hat" award goes to Mora's Lincoln Alcon for this three from the logo to end the third vs SR. Nice work, young fella. Tuesday, February 6th Mora, New Mexico Santa Rosa Lions - 64 Mora Rangers - 58 This was the last game on the non-district schedule for all of the teams from 2A District 5.  The two teams met at the Dual Cities Tourney in Santa Rosa on December 30th, with the Lions winning, 55-50.  Santa Rosa is an outstanding team that was in second place of 2A District 2, with a 16-5 overall record, and 1-1 in their district.  The Lions were also 5-0 on the season versus teams from 2A District 5 coming into this game.  The Rangers were 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the district.  After a tough loss at home against Escalante on the previous Saturday, this wo

  Week 10: New Mexico 2A District 5 High School Hoops Recap January 29th - February 3rd Only six games on the schedule this week for 2A District 5.  The race for the district title is heating up in the second week of district play. Salvador Saavedra continues playing well for Mesa Vista this season, as he finishes a tough basket here versus Questa. Tuesday, January 30th Espanola, New Mexico Dulce Hawks - 38 McCurdy Bobcats - 65 McCurdy started the week off against the Dulce Hawks.  Dulce is a team from 2A District 1 that had a 2-4 record against 2A District 5 this season.  The Hawks pushed the Escalante Lobos to the limit ten days earlier, in a 39-35 game with a close finish, in Tierra Amarilla. The Bobcats had a record of 10-8 overall, and 2-1 in district play, coming into this game.  This is one McCurdy was going to need to stay in the hunt for the District 5 title.  McCurdy’s duo of Ryan Montoya and Lucas Martinez are big reasons why they are still in contention for the district thi
